AI is not a good fitness coach

September 5, 2025Fitness

I decided to see what the bot would give me if I asked it to program two full body, hypertrophy training workouts for me. Good news is, it failed from my perspective, which means hiring an actual trainer will be 100% more beneficial. Here’s what it was lacking:

  1. It programmed zero back exercises- I asked for full body and it gave me no back??? It had already lost me at this point but let’s continue…
  2. No tricep or bicep training.
  3. A lot of dumb combo moves…for hypertrophy? No thanks.
  4. Lots of circuits. Again, for hypertrophy? Not the best approach.
  5. It didn’t utilize hardly any gym equipment which I specifically mentioned it being gym based training.
  6. The theme seemed to be legs and core. Like all it programmed was leg, core, or combo leg core.
  7. Only 1 unilateral exercise between the two workouts.
  8. It had a super weird exercise order that I wouldn’t have programmed for my people.

Overall, I give it a solid 3/10 for programming for your best results.

Sure, it’s a free way to get workout ideas, but it’s not a human. It’s not someone who gets to know you on a personal level. It’s not a person who has experienced things you’ve experienced. Real human > bots
