How I handle training on vacation

September 5, 2025Fitness

I don’t.  Well, sort of.

I don’t expect to have solid training sessions.

I don’t expect to PR.

I don’t expect to lift every day.

I don’t expect to follow my regular training split.

I definitely get lots of steps.

I do a couple short 30-45 minute lifts.

I eat salads, chicken, fish, pizza, fruit, ice cream, veggies, and more.

I track my food.

I don’t stress it.

There was a time in my life that I couldn’t handle missing a workout or even traveling for that matter. Just getting steps in was unheard of. I’d be an anxious mess all day and eating would send me into a spiral. But now…

I can genuinely tell you that missing a few workouts will not change your body. Eating foods other than plain lettuce will not harm you. Your body doesn’t change over a few days (unless you do nothing and eat 3500 cals OVER your maintenance). Most of us aren’t doing that.

So go enjoy your trips. Try the local foods. Get some rest. Take a few days off from your training plan. Your mind and body will thank you.
